Latvia Recognizes Tesla Assisted Driving Approval

Latvia's Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) announced on October 26, 2026 that it recognizes the provisional type approval issued by Dutch regulator RDW for Tesla Assisted Driving, previously known as FSD (Supervised).

The decision makes Latvia the tenth EU member state to recognize this approval, according to the authority's announcement. It is a national recognition, not an EU-wide rollout.

What is approved?

The approval covers eligible Tesla vehicles using the approved driver-assistance configuration. CSDD cited updated speed-offset safeguards and driver-monitoring measures in its review.

Crucially, Tesla Assisted Driving remains Level 2 supervised driver assistance. The human driver must watch the road, remain attentive and take responsibility for the vehicle. It does not permit unattended driving or create a driverless Robotaxi service.

When can drivers use it?

Tesla says the customer software rollout will begin soon. Regulatory recognition does not establish that the update is already available on every eligible Latvian vehicle.

Why it matters

This is a concrete expansion of Tesla's European supervised-driving authorization footprint. Future milestones include actual software availability, eligible vehicle configurations and additional national decisions.
