Tesla Credits are the account credit Tesla can award through Refer and Earn. They are not cash and cannot be transferred or redeemed as cash.
What can Tesla Credits pay for?
Tesla's current support pages list uses including:
- Supercharging;
- a new vehicle purchase;
- outstanding service balances in the Tesla app;
- Tesla Shop purchases;
- subscriptions;
- upgrades.
Available uses can vary by market.
When do credits expire?
Tesla says Credits earned through Refer and Earn expire 12 months after the Grant Date. The Grant Date is tied to the qualifying referral event, not simply the day someone clicks the link.
Tesla also sends an email notification before Credits are scheduled to expire.
The Canadian support page currently notes an exception for Ontario residents' referrer-benefit expiration, so Canadian owners should check the regional terms in their Tesla app.
Referral limits still matter
Tesla currently limits each customer to up to 10 qualifying order referrals per calendar year and 30 demo-drive referrals over the lifetime of the account.
Where to check your balance
In the Tesla app, open your account and Wallet to see the Tesla Credits card and current expiration information.
